Volunteer awareness and fundraising
Youth Engagement
When volunteers raise awareness, what does it look like? Is it a tangible outcome that you can see? For most of us, no. Learn how to better engage youth in awareness and fundraising, by showing them the impact they make.

Forget the gym!
Go volunteer. The University of British Columbia and Mount Sinai researchers just completed a study that indicates that teenagers who volunteer have better cardiovascular health than those who don’t.

Images of smiling doctors, packed pencils and flattened soccer ballsAre you going anywhere over the holidays or taking a trip sometime in the New Year? Can you make room for an extra five pounds in your luggage?

Five pounds is all it takes to turn your holiday into something extra special – a way to give back. And you don’t have to change your vacation plans, or give up any of your time on your trip. Pack with a Purpose is a new grass-roots organization that provides travelers with the information they need to take “charity packages” with them when they go to various parts of the world. “Charity packages” can be anything from pencils and notebooks for kids in Kenya to aspirin and a some band aids for a clinic in Peru.

And the process is so easy – you simply select the country you are going to, and then the lodging that you are staying in (or is closest to your hotel/hostel). The you can select from a number of projects occurring in that community and their wish-lists of items. When you arrive to your destination, drop off your five pound “charity package” to the lodging listed on Pack with a Purpose.

Traveling is all about making memories – and what better way to make a memory out your next trip, then to know you are doing some good on your vacation. Plus, those extra five pounds you will have in your luggage is the perfect amount of space for souvenirs!
