Text reads "a new way to fund & follow creativity"Have you ever had a great idea for a movie, book, or documentary, but had no idea how to come up with the funds? That’s where Kickstarter comes in!

Kickstarter is an innovative project founded by Perry Chen, Yancey Strickler and Charles Adler, designed to help fund creativity and lend a hand to artists with ideas. Want to publish a comic book? Put on a dance production?

Make sure your project is creative, focused, and has a clear start and finish.

People (or ‘backers’) can then pledge an amount of money towards your project, and will receive a reward in return if the project is fully backed and completed. Maybe you’re raising money to record a new album with your band – anyone who pledges $20 may get a copy of the cd. If someone pledges $100, perhaps they get to attend a recording session! Rewards for backers are very important, and the emphasis is on creative, one-of-a-kind rewards that will make people want to support you.

Funding is “all or nothing” – if a project is not 100% funded by the set deadline (anywhere from one to sixty days), no money changes hands. You won’t be charged until the project has met its funding goal and deadline. This way everything is risk-free, and allows people to test out their project ideas without stressing over not raising enough funds and having to struggle to complete their project with not enough money.

As of now, you can only be eligible to start a project on Kickstarter if you’re a U.S citizen. However, you can pledge to any project from anywhere in the world! So if you’re looking for a way to get involved in an exciting creative project right from home, make sure you check out this amazing site.
