Getinvolved! Volunteer Series on TVO
Season 4 on TVO
How does volunteerism change you? That was the question we set out to answer this season as we traveled across Ontario, talking to volunteers from all walks of life about how doing good for others can do good for you too.
Volunteer awareness and fundraising
Youth Engagement
When volunteers raise awareness, what does it look like? Is it a tangible outcome that you can see? For most of us, no. Learn how to better engage youth in awareness and fundraising, by showing them the impact they make.
Volunteering in the Winter Seasonal Affective Disorder
Forget the gym!
Go volunteer. The University of British Columbia and Mount Sinai researchers just completed a study that indicates that teenagers who volunteer have better cardiovascular health than those who don’t.

Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society LogoThe Strawberry Festival is a weekend long fundraiser taking place on June 23rd and 24th in support of the Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society.  The Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society strives to promote opportunities to individuals with Down Syndrome through supporting families, promoting public awareness, networking with other organizations, and lobbying for educational, vocational, and social opportunities.

The Bissett family-run farm will be opening its doors to attendees looking to pick (or purchase) sweet, juicy strawberries.  The Lower Mainland Down Syndrome Society will be operating a concession stand where you can pop by and purchase barbecued smokies, hotdogs, and delicious Strawberry Short Cake, donated by event sponsor The Original Cakerie.  The event will also feature local crafters and entertainment.

The Strawberry Festival is a fun (and tasty) way to spend your weekend and support a great cause.  Grab the family or a group of friends and eat, pick, and be merry!  Or find out how you can get involved as an event volunteer by emailing info@lmdss.com.

The festival will run from 10 am to 4 pm on both Saturday and Sunday.  Bissett Farms is located at 2710 Westham Island Road in Delta, BC.  Give them a shout for more info at 604 940 9755.
