Are you looking to make a difference in your community this summer? Do you or someone you know need volunteer hours, but don’t know quite how to go about getting them? Would you like to spend some quality time with family or friends outdoors? Do you want to make a difference?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you or someone you know would make a great volunteer for the MS Society! We are always looking for interested individuals to join our growing volunteer network.
On Saturday August 18th to Sunday August 19th we are looking for individuals, families, groups, friends, teens, corporations, or anyone passionate and enthusiastic to volunteer in Acton, Waterloo, or at checkpoints in between at our MS Bike Tour.
Canadians’ biggest reason for not volunteering is not having the time, or being unable to make the long-term commitment. This event is a one-day commitment that only requires 3 hours of your time! Another reason Canadians say they don’t volunteer: they say no one asked! Well here’s the MS Society asking for your assistance as a volunteer.
Two-thirds of volunteers in Ontario say they improved their interpersonal skills through volunteering, while almost half say they improved their communication skills. Give back to your local community while building your own skill set.
There are so many ways to volunteer and all are flexible based on your schedule, interests, and abilities. Do you like being a first point of contact? Help out with our registration to get cyclists signed in and ready to ride! Do you like being in charge? Assist with parking and logistics, telling everyone where to go, and what to do next. Are you a supporter and encourager? Volunteer at a checkpoint, or at the finish line to congratulate everyone who rides through.
The MS Bike Tour could not operate without the help of extraordinary volunteers. If you’d like to join this team of exceptional individuals, please contact Nicole Dube at volunteer@mssociety.ca, or 1-800-268-7582 ext. 3111.
