Getinvolved.ca launched on October 26th 2008.
Getinvolved.ca is a companion piece to our TVO television series. On TVO, Get Involved is 25 documentary shorts celebrating people from 7-70 who are making a difference in their schools, in their community and through their work. They are stories of inspiration.
GetInvolved.ca was created to transform that inspiration into action.
Initially Getinvolved.ca was made possible thanks to the financial participation of the Bell Broadcast & New Media Fund, a fully audited grant.
Since 2008, we have forged relationships and content partnerships with a variety of NFP’s and leading national NGO’s and businesses. In 2009, we entered into a formal partnership with Volunteer Canada and their Corporate Council on Volunteering. Together we created Power of the Hour a national campaign to encourage Canadians to stand up and count the power of the volunteer time.
In 2010, we launched Power of the Hour as part of National advertising campaign with over 22 corporate partners including Manulife Financial, Microsoft, and Home Depot to celebrate the contributions of socially engaged businesses. We set a goal of two million volunteer hours—and by April 22nd 2010 we surpassed our goal and reached 3.3 million volunteer hours.
In the Fall of 2010, TVO, Volunteer Canada and Manulife Financial engaged us to assist in developing enhancements to the Getinvolved online experience. With their support and funding we have launched a powerful matching tool to better deliver on our goal of connecting individuals and organizations to make change possible.
