CARE Canada
How CARE Canada gets involved...
CARE runs poverty-fighting programs programs in over 70 countries around the world, reaching over 59 million vulnerable people annually, focusing on global issues like HIV and AIDS, economic strengthening, women's empowerment, adaptation to climate change, development and relief.
CARE programs are particularly targetted at empowering women, because our decades of experience have shown us that women and girls are the most powerful agents of change in fighting poverty in their communities.
When conflicts or natural disasters like the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami strike in the developing workd, CARE is always one of the very first on the ground delivering life-saving aid. When the immediate need is over, CARE stays on to help the people who have been affected to rebuild their lives and livelihoods, and to be better prepared to weather future emergencies. As always, CARE is particularly sensitive to the needs of women in emergencies, as they are the most affected.
