Giving Back to Service Dogs
The piece of land next to Centennial Pool in downtown Halifax has truly gone to the dogs. There are an estimated 80 service dogs working in the Halifax Region, including seeing eye dogs, dogs who help the hearing impaired and dogs who help people with autism. Helen McFadyen, along with her Opal, realized that these hardworking animals didn’t have a place to relax and play, so she created the Halifax Service Dog Park – the first off-leash dog park in North America.
