Rolf Palohemio: The Healthy House
Inventor turned accidental environmentalist.
ROLF PALOHEIMO is an inventor who has taken his family home almost entirely off the municipal grid. He has created an anaerobic digester that recycles and purifies rainwater and uses that water to satisfy all the basic needs of the house. Electricity is gathered through large solar panels while the floors are made entirely of composted glass particles and blue box material. The mid-town Toronto home has been the subject of science classes, enquiring minds, and won the “Healthy House” competition in the mid 90’s. Rolf is currently in the process of patenting his technology.
