Tom Olson: Bison Man
An Alberta visionary with a mission to save the bison!
Unlike the sabre tooth tiger and the giant sloth bear, bison are the only large animal to survive the ice age - only to be threatened by no less an enemy than humans. As the herds dwindle, international tax lawyer, visionary and bison conservationist Tom Olson is working to restore the noble beasts to their rightful place in the Canadian landscape. Along with his wife and ten children, he bought six bison and tended them on their ranch in Alberta. Over time that number grew and they now care for 4000 bison on four different ranches. Tom Olson still has a big task ahead and many opponents to persuade, but a keen sense of respect and dedication keeps Olsen at the forefront of the effort to stem the destruction of Canada's remaining bison.
