The focuses on empouring the Civil Society groups within the overall objective of poverty reducrtion. The Organization Penyem Jamorai Relief organization (PJRO) is interested in promoting sustainable rural development through agriculture irrigation to reduce poverty, and contribute to a more secure, equitable and prosperious communities for the people in the nine villages in the Gambia.

What we might need from other members and organizations:

The organization is looking for help with funding. The PJRO is seeking for funding from the individuals who want to help the poor in Africa.

The rural villagers struggling to survive off the land Agriculture is the sector from which the rural people in Africa drive their income from and both urban and rural obtain their food which is produce largely by women and children. In Africa, rural people depend heavily on agriculture irrigation for a living. The absolute poor in the Gambia live in rural areas and they depend on agriculture irrigation for their livelihoods.In our interdependent world, poverty in African countries increasingly affects the economic, social and political welfare of the rich nations or develop countries. The PJRO is requesting funding from the individuals to enable the this rural agrarians to overcome food shortages and reduce poverty.

The Organization relice that in the rural communities, which is overpopulated by women are trying to escape poverty, but yet see themselves sinking deeper and deeper into poverty. The organization plan to provide farmers with the tools and equiptments needed for the farmers to become slef-reliance in food production.

Food prices is ricing dramartically, with some prices dopubling in the last few years. These rising food prices is contrubuting to growing hunger and social unrest in the continent of Africa.
