Youth Without Shelter is an emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth aged 16-24. We believe in second chances, building confidence and teaching life skills to empower youth to live responsibly and independently. The youth that step through our doors are generally fleeing abusive homes, may have spent much of their young lives in the child welfare sytem or have experienced many forms of violence and poverty. All have the same need for a safe and stable environment.

about Youth Without Shelter:

Youth Without Shelter is Etobicoke's singular emergency residence and referral agency serving homeless youth, aged 16-24. At YWS, we are committed to stepping far beyond the basics of food and beds. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, we are dedicated to providing support programs in a safe environment, with the goal of getting youth off the streets permanently.

how Youth Without Shelter gets involved

"Before I came here I was unable to find myself a home. The programs they had were very helpful, they taught me life skills such as budgeting. They even donated furniture to get me started. Even after I left I am still able to come back and receive food and personal care packages."Jason, age 17.
YWS programs and services provide individual solutions to homelessness for the over 1,000 youth that each year seek safe shelter:
Tier one basic necessities and referrals: the residential program meets the immediate needs of the youth by providing them with shelter, counselling, regular meals, clothing and personal hygiene products.
Tier two Steps to Success program : offers basic life skills, social skills and/or educational workshops as building blocks to assist youth in finding employment, completing their education and securing independent living. Through a combination of workshops and referrals we work with each youth to set goals and decide their next steps.
Tier three housing program: in this program housing workers focus on placing youth in permanent, affordable housing.
Tier four Stay in School Program: offers longer-term accommodation for up to 20 youth while they focus on completing their education.
