The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga welcomes the help of WWOOFers (World Wide Opportunities On Organic Farms) as well as volunteers who perform "Karma Yoga" in return for free room and board and opportunities to deepen their yoga practice.

Karma Yogi Task Coordinator Needed!
As an established retreat centre and spiritual community, the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga offers the ideal environment for personal growth and the practice of yoga. Do your service amid 70 acres of beautiful organic gardens, orchards, meadows and forests.

Position Description:

* Duration of position: February 2010 to November 2010.
* 20 hrs/wk = scheduling + 20hrs/wk completing additional tasks based on your skill set.
* Create weekly schedules for karma yogi staff in order to serve the needs of the Centre.
* Deal with scheduling issues as they arise.
* Access free asana, meditation, philosophy and kirtan/satsang sessions.
* Delicious, garden-fresh, organic vegetarian meals, and room included.
* We are a community of KYs, most of whom work without cash remuneration. However, this position carries a $400/month stipend.

Requirements:

* Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Access.
* Experience in scheduling would be an asset.
* Ability to meet deadlines efficiently.
* Ability to handle and resolve problems as they arise.
* Good communication skills, flexibility, and patience.
* An interest in yoga and living in spiritual/intentional community.

The Salt Spring Centre of Yoga Mission

To promote a facility for events, retreats, and classes incorporating skills and concepts related to yoga, personal development, and the creative arts; and to support other people and projects whose objectives are in harmony with those of the Centre.

To offer health services to the public, based on the principles of natural healing, yoga, and a vegetarian diet.

To foster an intentional spiritual community living according to Classical Ashtanga Yoga principles at the Centre, and to promote mutual support activities with interested parties all across the globe.

To develop and maintain agricultural projects based on organic farming methods, and to provide stewardship for the ecology of the Centre property by applying the principles of sustainability and environmental protection.

Inspired by Baba Hari Dass, the Dharma Sara Satsang Society established Salt Spring Centre of Yoga in 1981 as a peaceful, positive environment for teaching and practicing the ideals of Classical Ashtanga Yoga.

how Salt Spring Centre of Yoga gets involved

Proceeds from the Salt Spring Centre of Yoga go to the Sri Ram Ashram in India. The Ashram supports an orphanage for 68 destitute and orphaned children, a school for 500 children, and a charitable medical clinic.
