Those initiatives include partnering of schools, and cultural immersion programs for both teachers and volunteers.
Elephant Thoughts is a unique charity in that over 80% of its funds are generated by its own initiatives rather than through fundraising. The organization is built on a solid, thriving business plan of creating, marketing, and delivering sought after, effective educational programs to Canadian educational organizations, schools, museums, community centers, and event planners. Proceeds raised from these programs contribute to their charitable mandate. With a solid financial foundation laid through its own revenue generating initiatives, Elephant Thoughts is in the unique position to allow 100% of every donation to go exactly to where the done wishes, none is lost to administration and overhead.
Elephant Thoughts gathers expertise from its membership base of hundreds of teachers and education professionals to create some of the most effective and innovative educational programs offered in any school, anywhere, both as programs for students and as professional development workshops for other teachers.
Educational experiences are facilitated so that children from urban, rural, Native, Non-Native, and foreign communities can learn from each other. Volunteering at Elephant Thoughts can be one of the most exciting volunteer opportunities available on the planet. Volunteers earn hours year round towards expense paid trips to help us in our Third World development projects. Volunteer work comes in many forms from office work, to program delivery, to project coordination, to training teachers in the developing world, to travel to remote areas of Collingwood. There are lots of really exciting things you can do to earn one of the most important experiences you could ever have. The organization believes strongly that anyone that wishes to contribute to people less fortunate than themselves should be given an opportunity to do so. ET works hard to create a forum where its resources and expertise can be utilized by anyone with the passion or drive to effect change. Volunteers are given the ability and confidence to become part of the organization and help shape its direction.
