About this Opportunity:

One child. One hour a week. One BIG reason to go back to school.

We are currently seeking volunteers who can start in the new school year, Sept 2011! We server Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo and Surrounding areas. It’s a small commitment that makes a big difference. Become a mentor to a child in a school environment. You’ll help build a child’s self-esteem and school performance while having a lot of fun and it only takes one hour a week during the school year (based on your schedule). You can be part of any of our In-School Mentoring programs:

1) ISM: Our traditional In-School Mentoring program. Students are matched to adult volunteer mentors and receive assistance with social, emotional, or academic goals. Most matches meet for one hour a week.

2) ESL ISM: English as a Second Language In-School Mentoring. We work with local ESL/ELL teachers to support students who could use extra support learning English.

3) Co-op ISM: High school co-op students are trained to be In-School Mentors and are able to serve up to eight children at a single school in each semester.

Training Details: Our volunteers receive orientation, training and on-going support.
Time Commitment: Monday Morning, Monday Afternoon, Tuesday Morning, Tuesday Afternoon, Wednesday Morning, Wednesday Afternoon, Thursday Morning, Thursday Afternoon, Friday Morning, Friday Afternoon
Duration: 4 – 6 months
