About Us
Raising The Village was founded in 2005 by Shawn Cheung, after trekking around African villages and discovering the lack of resources available to those living in rural, hard-to-reach areas. Those humbling moments stay with us today, keeping us honest and reminding us of our roots. Since then, Raising The Village has grown with a strong team of committed volunteers, generous donors, and hard-working staff.
We have had the privilege to work alongside our partners, friends, and family, and support thousands of people and their communities in giving hope a real chance, and sharing in the success of lasting community development built by the people themselves. We’re still small and there’s much work to do, but we’ve got big dreams.
Raising The Village relies on its incredible volunteers and supporters who dedicate their time, effort, and resources to help the make the idea of change real through Raising The Village; challenging the status quo, pushing for accountability, and creating true community through action.
From our hard working Canadian and Ugandan team, our fabulous group of volunteers, to the work we do, there is a lot you can learn about Raising The Village (RTV). Please visit our website at http://www.raisingthevillage.org/about/ to learn about it all!
