              About Us

The School for Social Entrepreneurs – Ontario (SSE-O) contributes to transformational social change and more equitable economic prosperity by helping people of all ages, educational backgrounds, and walks of life launch a non-profit, cooperative, ethical business, or social venture to benefit their community. By nurturing community-based social entrepreneurs, SSE-O supports the exploration of new ideas and innovative approaches to the evolving and complex challenges faced by communities in Canada. SSE-O's untraditional and unique educational model places the emphasis on students as self-directed learners. With a global SSE network spanning eight schools in the United Kingdom, two schools in Australia, and the new school in Ontario, the SSE movement supports individuals in realizing their potential and helps to establish, scale, and sustain social enterprises and social businesses. SSE-O was brought to Canada by an Ontario collaborative led by Housing Services Corporation, MaRS, ACCESS Community Capital Fund, and Toronto Centre for Community Learning and Development. We are generously supported by the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
